I have sailed with Henry over many years including two J80 World Championships and have seen his skills and abilities continually increase over that time. These skills cover an unusually wide breadth of dinghies, keelboats and yachts with excellent tactical, sail handling, trimming, and rules knowledge. Henry is also a highly competent helmsman in addition to having professional experience of boat repair, race hull preparation, trailing and craning.
One of Henry’s particular skills is the understanding of the tactics required to sail in large fleets and one-design racing – I would estimate from the 2007 J80 World Championships that bringing Henry’s skills onboard increased our finishing result of 25th (out of 124 boats) by at least 30 places. On the water Henry is a very enthusiastic & tenacious competitor and committed to achieving good results.
At a relatively young age, Henry’s own personal development is admirable and I have seen him mature into a reliable and responsible adult. Henry’s achievements have been driven by himself and competing in a large number of international events has made him resourceful and highly adaptable. I feel he is commercially aware and would understand the need to “deliver” in terms of publicity, promotion and technical data to a sponsor.
I am confident that Henry will make a high value contribution to any sailing team or sailing related company’
